Sotheby’s will be auctioning what it says is the biggest round diamond ever sold at auction in New York City next month.
The 110.92-carat diamond will come up for sale on December 17.
Unfortunately, the diamond doesn't have great characteristics. It has an L color graded (faint light brown) and is only VS1 clarity.
However, it does have an excellent polish, cut, and symmetry, according to Sotheby’s, which believes it will see for between $4.2 million and $6.2 million.
By way of comparison, Sotheby’s will also be auctioning a 5.69-carat fancy vivid blue diamond ring at the same sale next month, however this gem has a pre-sale estimate of $12 million to $15 million.
