Israel exported $2.79 billion of diamonds last year with an average price per carat of $299.50, according to data for 2015 published by the Kimberley Process.
The average price per carat last year was higher than for 2014, but the figures for volume and value were lower.
Diamond imports were 12.23 million carats with a value of $3.39 billion with an average price per carat of $277.42.
The KP figures also show that global production in 2015 was 127.39 million carats with a value of $13.88 billion. That compares with 124.77 million carats in 2014 with a value of $14.49 billion.
Russia was the world's top producer in 2015, with 42 million carats, while Botswana was second with 21 million carats. However, in value terms, Botswana was higher than Russia.
Other significant diamond-mining countries were Canada, Australia, Namibia, Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
