U.S. Posts Ninth Month of Jewelry, Watch Sales Rises

Official U.S. figures show encouraging retail sales of jewelry and watches.

U.S. jewelry and watch sales from all retail outlets increased 6.3 percent year on year to an estimated $4.65 billion in January, with both categories enjoying nine successive months of growth, Rapaport News reported.

The sector’s total for previous months was revised, meaning total jewelry and watch sales in 2015 as a whole increased 1.2 percent to $75.61 billion, according to provisional figures from the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Jewelry sales in January increased 6.3 percent year on year to $4.11 billion, according to Rapaport News estimates. Watch sales rose 6.4 percent to an estimated $544 million.
