Diam Wk Participants Enjoy Festive End to First Day

Entertaining cocktail event brings first day of the diamond buyers week to a conclusion.

Following the first day of the International Diamond Week at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), Yoram Dvash welcomed buyers and visitors, as well as IDE members, to a cocktail event at the Leonardo Hotel near the bourse complex.

Dvash said that following a long day of work, it was time to relax and discuss other issues.

Former IDE President and current Israel Diamond Institute Chairman Shmuel Schnitzer welcomed the many guests who arrived from abroad and told an amusing traditional Jewish story me.

"I have seen many smiling faces at the International Diamond Week, and I wish all the participants well and good business," he said.

Shlomo Eshed, the President of the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, said that he hoped the event would bring happiness to all members of the diamond industry and a return to the situation of the past. He told the visitors from all across the world that although the weather was excellent which made it pleasant to go out and have fun, he hoped they would do a great deal of business with their Israeli counterparts.

Dvash and Schnitzer presented British designer Stephen Webster, the Guest of Honor at the Diamond Week, with a certificate of recognition. The certificate said: 'The Israel Diamond Exchange appreciates and respects the contribution of Stephen Webster in the promotion of the global jewelry industry.'

Stephen Webster said it was a surprise for him to receive the award. "We were asked to take part in the diamond marketing panel and to learn from us what the industry needs to do. From the discussions that I had during the day, I came to the conclusion that we need to cooperate so that from the rough to polished and to the final jewelry item, we work together in order to expand the profit margins."

Members of the IKO, the Turkish delegation, surprised Dvash and Moshe Nissan by presenting them with a gift – a painted plate featuring original Turkish artistry. Moshe Nissan, a former President of the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, invested a lot of time and energy in order to bring the Turkish delegation to Israel for the International Diamond Week.

Participants in the cocktail evening enjoyed a light meal and a range of deserts as well as a performance by Israeli illusionist Nimrod Harel.
