The winter edition of the International Diamond Week in Israel (IDWI), to be held February 14-18, will showcase new diamond technologies at the DiamTech exhibition which will take place outside the Rough Diamond Trading Hall, in the presence of Nobel Prize winner for chemistry Prof Dan Shechtman.
At DiamTech, technology companies and high-tech service providers will display the latest innovations in diamond manufacturing, decision-making for cutting, diamond imaging and marketing technologies.
Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Yoram Dvash emphasized the importance of technology in the Israeli diamond industry.
"Israel's added value in cutting edge technology is a great advantage to our industry. Most of the significant technological innovations in the diamond industry worldwide originated in Israel.
"With DiamTech we are supporting companies who are advancing our industry through technology. We are also proclaiming to our members and our colleagues around the world that Israel will continue to be at the forefront of technological innovation for our industry," he said.
The IDE will make available to IDWI buyers and exhibitors free use of the IDE Technology Center on the trading floor. The Technology Center is staffed by expert gemologists and technicians who will aid participants in using the latest equipment to check color, clarity, symmetry and cut grade, using the criteria of the leading gemological laboratories - GIA, HRD and IGI.
Participants will also be able to determine if diamonds of all sizes, including melees, are natural, synthetic or simulants. They will also be able to compare options for re-cutting diamonds, as well as to learn if a stone is suitable for HPHT treatment. A special camera is also available for photographing diamonds and jewelry, as well as scanning reports.
The IDE offers accredited and confirmed buyers three free nights in one of the IDWI's venue hotels in the Ramat Gan diamond district.
