In his first interview after winning the election last week for presidency of the Israel Diamond Exchange, Yoram Dvash speaks about his feelings and his plans.
"I must say that I did not sleep all night after winning the elections for the presidency," said newly elected Israel Diamond Exchange, Yoram Dvash.
"I felt a lot of excitement, happiness, and adrenaline running through me as well as plans running through my mind for the future and I hope to be able to implement them."
Asked what was the first thing he did after the announcement of the results, he replied that he called his parents "who are rich in wisdom and always showed us the most important things in life and they are the things on which I was raised."
Speaking about his previous positions as Chairman of the Industry Committee and the Marketing and External Relations Committee, he said he agreed to head them because they are the issues that he felt very strongly about. "As time passed by and towards the elections, there was a situation where I believed I could be exchange president after seeing how things work."
"For the older generation I am from the younger generation, and for younger bourse members I am from an older generation. I am actually from the intermediate generation and I think there was an agreement among the veteran members that the time has come for the next generation to come and lead the bourse and make it more technologically aware and more high-tech in its approach.
"I have huge respect for the older generation. We have a wonderful diamond exchange complex and an excellent atmosphere for doing business. I salute the older generation for what they achieved here. But I feel the time has come to take the Israel Diamond Exchange to new heights. We have a mixture of older members who know the system intimately and younger members who are full of energy and motivation and understand technology well."
Talking about former President Shmuel Schnitzer, Yoram Dvash said: "I want to thank him for the two years that he led the bourse during very difficult times both here and abroad. I was next to him and saw how he managed the operation. He gave a huge amount of himself on behalf of the bourse. I have huge respect and appreciation for him and it is great for the exchange that we have Shmuel Schnitzer.
"I want to thank all members of the bourse, and we have more than 3,000, and to wish each and everyone a wonderful year of business, health and prosperity."
