Alrosa Discovers 106-Carat Diamond at Jubilee Pipe
The Jubilee pipe is known for its discoveries of large diamonds.
Russian diamond mining monopoly Alrosa announced that it had found a 105.6-carat diamond at the Jubilee kimberlite pipe.
The diamond is of “4 Black Sawables 2 color” quality. The stone is octahedral and transparent, with a moderate yellowish hue, the company said.
Alrosa added that there it also has small olivine, graphite and sulphide inclusions in it.
The Jubilee pipe is known for large diamond discoveries, with stones weighing from 50 to 120 carats being recovered from the operation this year.
