IDE's Schnitzer Pleased With Israel Diamond Wk Results

IDE President Schnitzer made the comments during the event which took place towards the end of October.

Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Shmuel Schnitzer spoke during the Israel Diamond Week at the Diamond Dealers Club of New York.

"There have been deals and many contacts made at this event.

"This has certainly been a successful show in light of the current conditions. You cannot demand that such an event will be out of this world because of the difficult trading conditions at the moment."

President Shmuel Schnitzer also spoke about his actions at the recent annual general meeting of the World Diamond Council meeting in Moscow where there were moves to change the definition of conflict diamonds which could have potentially caused damage in the future to Israel, as well as other countries.

In addition, he also spoke about the forthcoming elections for the presidency and management of the IDE.

"We need a strong leadership for difficult times. There will be as usual democratic elections with everyone free to contest them and put forward their ideas."

Mr Schnitzer also talked about the next International Diamond Week in February.

"People warned me the last event in September would be weak because of the situation in the internation diamond sector but I am confident that the February will also be a success. It is a great formula which costs exhibitors very little."
