Alrosa Finds 103-Ct Diamond at Jubilee Operation in Russia

Six diamonds with weights ranging from 50 to 120 carats have been recovered from the Jubilee pipe this year, the miner said.

Russian mining giant Alrosa has found a 102.85-carat diamond which it says has a moderate yellowish hue.

The stone was unearthed at the Jubilee kimberlite pipe and is believed to be worth more than $480,000.

The octahedral-shaped diamond was found by the Aikhal Mining and Processing Division last month.

Two years ago, the Aikhal Mining and Concentration Mill unearthed a 253.16-carat rough diamond with an estimated value of $1.5 million to $2 million at the Jubilee pipe.

At the time Alrosa said technological progress at its production facility was the reason for its success in recovering large stones and preventing breakages.
