Russian diamond mining giant Alrosa w ill reduce the prices of its rough diamond prices at its September sale by 8 to 10 percent, the Russian news agency Interfax reported on Tuesday while not providing the names of the sources.
"Preliminarily, the drop is 10 percent, in the framework of the market situation," one of the sources said .
Meanwhile, a nother source said Alrosa would slash prices of its rough goods by 6 to 13 percent. "On average, it's around 8 percent, for our assortment of + 9 to 8 grainers [ stones weighing between 0.65 and 2 carats]. This is not far from the drop at the De Beers [ sight ] in August."
The sources also commented that Alrosa clients will be allowed to defer up to 50 percent of their allocations of goods – which is more than the company allowed in its sale last month .
