The gathering was held from June 14 to 16 in Tel Aviv.
The gathering provided an excellent opportunity for leaders of the global diamond industry to discuss the main issues affecting the business at a time when it is facing many challenges.
These included the high price of rough diamonds, a lack of credit being provided by the banks, diamonds being subjected to color treatments, and the lack of profitability in the trade.
The Conference won accolades for its exemplary organization, was addressed by senior representatives of the industry, including the President of the IDE, Shmuel Schnitzer, President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association, Kobi Korn, President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), Ernie Blom, President of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) Maxim Shkadov, President of CIBJO, Gaetano Cavalieri, President of Alrosa, Andrey Zharkov, CEO of De Beers, Philip Mellier, and many others.
The meeting showcased a variety of opinions, needs and ideas for promoting the diamond industry.
Conference participants also enjoyed a variety of events that took place during the opening, including the 'Diamonds on 45' exhibition at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum, a reception and cocktail party attended by Economy Minister, Aryeh Deri, who expressed his support for the industry, and a sumptuous gala dinner presented the diamond industry in all its glory, and gave awards ceremonies and respect to senior members.
