Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Shmuel Schnitzer and IDE Director-General Moti Besser were invited to represent the bourse at a meeting of the Switzerland-Israel Chamber of Commerce which discussed the central role of Israel in the global diamond industry.
Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Shmuel Schnitzer and IDE Director-General Moti Besser were invited to represent the bourse at a meeting of the Switzerland-Israel Chamber of Commerce at a meeting held yesterday (Wednesday) in Zurich on the subject: "Israel - Hub of the Diamond World".
The Switzerland-Israel Chamber of Commerce brings together Swiss businesspeople and is focused on trade relations between Israel and Switzerland. Polished exports from Israel to Switzerland amounted in 2014 to $438 million and accounts for nearly 80 percent of Israeli exports to Switzerland.
The meeting was attended by about 100 local businessmen as well as senior officials from the Israeli Embassy in Switzerland. During the meeting, Shmuel Schnitzer and Moti Besser spoke about the centrality of the Israeli diamond industry and steps it is taking to consolidate itself as world's leading diamond center.
Among the members of the Switzerland-Israel Chamber of Commerce are bankers, members of the jewelry industry, lawyers and other professionals with business ties to Israel.
The Embassy of Israel in Switzerland was represented by Deputy Ambassador Tzach Sarid who is currently acting Ambassador, and Director of business development for the commercial office in Switzerland and in the Israeli delegation to the UN and international institutions, Marc Hodara.
