Israel Diamond Week At DDC Seen As Great Success

In addition to the Israeli exhibitors, there are 65 traders from the DDC.

The third edition of the Israel Diamond Week at the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) in New York City will start its third day on Wednesday with more than 100 Israeli traders exhibiting and hundreds of buyers from the United States and abroad.

David Lasher, the Managing Director of the DDC, estimates that around 700 buyers are attending the show, which ends on November 14.

There is a broad range of buyers, including wholesalers and retailers from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Florida and abroad.

Around 100 traders registered on the Israel Diamond Exchange’s dedicated website.

There was a big turnout on Monday, the first day of the show, and was estimated to have been bigger than the number seen on the initial day at the 2013 event.

IDE President Shmuel Schnizter and DDC President Reuven Kaufman said they were pleased with the results of the show in the first two days.

Reuven Kaufman said: “People are telling me that this year’s show is even better than the two we held previously. There is a great deal of foot traffic. This is a very encouraging sign at this time.”

The end of the second day of the show was marked with a short ceremony. Reuven Kaufman praised his Israeli counterpart Shmuel Schnizter saying he was “smart, highly dedicated to the Israeli diamond sector and to the people of Israel”.

He presented Schnizter and IDE General Manager Moti Besser with awards of recognition for their work.

Schnizter praised the DDC for taking the organization of the event up even higher. “It seems like everyone is happy and I am very much looking forward to these shows in the years to come. The next International Diamond Week will take place in Israel next February, and in addition to the DDC, the Antwerp Diamond Bourse’s members will also take part.”

Speaking about Kaufman, Schnizter said: “When he was elected DDC President, I knew that he was the person who would promote and advance the DDC.”

Kaufman and Schnizter praised the work of David Lasher and the assistant to Besser, Dana Oren for their unending work to make the event a success.
