First Cycle of Diamond Polishing Starts In New Center

IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer says: "One of our aims in establishing the new manufacturing center near the bourse was to enable young people to enter the trade who had never been part of it in the past."

The first round of professional training in diamond polishing in the IDE's new manufacturing center got off the ground on Thursday at a festive event at the center in the diamond exchange area.

The event was held in the presence of IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer, Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) President Kobi Koren, IDE Industry Committee Chairman Yoram Dvash, Diamond Controller Shmuel Mordechai, Israel Diamond Institute General Manager Eli Avidar, and IDE General Manager Moti Besser.

During a tour of the facilities, the guests were impressed with the level of facilities and technological equipment, and spoke with the trainee polishers and other workers. At the entrance to the center, there was an event to mark the placing of a mezuzah and a blessing from Shmuel Schnitzer.

Schnitzer said: "One of our aims in establishing the new manufacturing center near the bourse was to enable young people to enter the trade who had never been part of it in the past. I am happy to be here today and to see the younger generation that is continuing the work of the diamond business.

"I congratulate Yoram Dvash on his work in realizing his vision of bring manufacturing back to Israel. I would also like to thank everyone who had a hand in creating this center, including the IDI, the IsDMA, and to wish all success to the new polishers."

Yoram Dvash said: "I thank IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer and Kobi Koren for their cooperation in establishing the center, and the help they offered and also to Moti Besser and Eli Avidar and also to Smuel Mordechai who helped realize this vision."

The participants raised a glass at the end of the tour of the facilities to toast the success of the new facilities.
