Online jeweler Blue Nile posted a 6.9 percent increase on the year in net sales to $105.8 million for the third quarter.
Net income, however, slipped $1.7 million for the quarter from $2.9 million for the same period last year.
Blue Nile said that it expects revenue to come in between $159 million to $174 million for the fourth quarter which includes the critical holiday sales period.
The online retailer said that sales of engagement rings in the United States rose five percent during the third quarter, accounting for $60.8 million – or more than half of Blue Nile’s business.
Blue Nile’s international sales made up $21.5 million.
“Last quarter, we took steps to ensure that, no matter what, Blue Nile’s superior value is absolutely clear,” said Blue Nile CEO Harvey Kanter in a press statement.
