The Israeli Diamond Industry sees Asian markets, ledby Hong Kong, as one of the most important long-term growth areas for Israelidiamonds. Hong Kong is today Israel’s second-largest market for polished diamondsafter the United States, representing close to 30% of Israel’s totalpolished exports. Israel’s net polished diamond exports to Hong Kong reached$1.7 billion in 2013.
IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said that the Israeli DiamondIndustry sees a great future for Israeli exports to Asian markets. “We seeAsia, with Hong Kong as its leading entry point, as a vast and largely untappedmarket for diamonds. Our experience to date in Hong Kong, China and othermarkets has shown that we have only begun to scratch the surface,” he said.
IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said that he wasoptimistic at the prospects for an active show. “The September Hong Kong tradefair is the largest in Asia, and the Israeli Diamond Industry will be out infull force. Our diamond companies are experienced in these markets and will bebringing goods that are especially geared to Asia. Based on our previous experience we are quiteoptimistic that this will be an excellent show,” Avidar stated.
