Changes At The Top At State Bank of India

Leaders of the Israeli diamond industry, under the leadership of Shmuel Schnitzer, said their goodbyes to the Managing Director of the State Bank of India in Israel at an event at the IDE complex with an Indian culture theme.
The heads of the different sectors of the Israeli diamond industry bade farewell on Sunday to the Managing Director of the State Bank of India in Israel, Mr A. Poroshotman, and welcomed his replacement, Mr Makash Sharma, at an event at the bank complex with an Indian culture theme next to the Yahalom Building.

The event was attended by the President of the IDE, Shmuel Schnitzer, Vice President of the IDE and the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association Chairman, Jacob (Kobi) Korn, Vice-President and Chairman of the Banking Committee, Jacob Kattan, General Manager of the IDE, Moti Besser, President of the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange, Shlomo Eshed, honorary president of the IDE, Avi Paz, senior Israeli company representatives who are among the customers of the bank and many guests.

At the bank complex, that was arranged especially for the festive event, participants enjoyed a rich buffet of traditional Indian cuisine and Indian classical music with the sitar instrument and the tabla (raga) featuring the artists Danny Jobs and Daniel White. IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer speaking on behalf of the Israeli diamond industry said: "I'm very pleased to be here tonight. In the past year since I was again elected as President of the Exchange we have been working with the State Bank of India very productively. The fact that there is an Indian bank in the diamond exchange complex is a great honor for Israel.

"Recently, we have signed contracts with several banks operating in the Israeli diamond sector, which will provide new oxygen and credit for the industry. Despite the reduction in the amount of credit granted by the State Bank of India to the diamond sector in the past year, I am convinced that it will grow given the positive trends in the diamond market. I wish the outgoing Managing Director, Mr Poroshotman, and the incoming Managing Director, Mr. Sharma, much success in their new roles," he added.

Mr Poroshotman greeted and thanked the participants and summed up his experiences from the four years he has spent in Israel, saying. "I want to thank you for the great support that I received from the exchange, the bourse Presidents with whom I worked, the Diamond Controller and his office, the Indian Embassy in Israel, the Israel Diamond Institute and the Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to all the bank's customers who enjoyed the great efforts we made for them during my period heading the branch. I am sure that my replacement, Mr Sharma, will enjoy similar support."

Mr Sharma said: "I've been in Israel for two weeks and am getting to know a new country. We in India have always carried with us an admiration for the State of Israel and the way she works. We respect Israel very much. I hope I win your support during my work here, that I will learn to do good business with you and that we will meet again soon."
