India's Exports of Polished Diamonds Up 16% in February

In India's April to February fiscal year so far, polished goods exports have jumped by 20 percent on the year-before period to $18 billion.
India's Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported that the country's exports of polished diamonds last month increased by16 percent from a year earlier to $2.16 billion. 

The country imported 20 percent more polished goods – worth $564.5 million – in February, and 32 percent more with a value of $5.84 billion in April to February.

Imports of rough diamonds rose by 12 percent on the year to $1.49 billion last month, and in April-February rose by 14 percent to $15.3 billion.

Rough diamond exports fell 34 percent to $112.6 million in February, but in April-February increased by 1.5 percent to $1.40 billion.

Exports of synthetic stones last month totaled $11.0 million, and $72.0 million in April to February.

Imports of synthetic stones in February were $3.95 million, and $72.6 million in April-February.
