India Posts 16% Rise in Polished Diamond Exports
India's polished diamond exports in December increased 15.6-percent on the year to $1.10 billion, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) reported.
In the April to December tax year so far, polished exports have surged 27.8 percent to $14.7 billion.
In imports of polished goods, there was a 10.7-percent fall to $380.4 million in December, but imports are up 42 percent to $4.76 billion in April to December.
As for rough diamond imports, they slipped 6.5 percent on the year to $1.65 billion in December, but in April-December they rose by 12.7 percent to $12.58 billion.
Exports of rough diamonds jumped 31.5 percent to $104.3 million in December, while for April-December rough exports rose 12.4 percent to $1.16 million.
Exports of synthetic stones in December were $7.40 million, and $53.2 million in April to December.
Imports of synthetic stones in December came to $6.54 million, and $61.3 million in April-to-December.
