US Jewelry Sales Rose 5.5% in October
Cyber Monday sales on December 2 rose 10% on the year to $1.4 billion.
US jewelry sales showed a 5.5% on the year in October, and for the last 12 months came to $69.8 billion, according to a report on Rapaport News citing provisional figures from the US government.
Sales of watches rose by 7.4% in October, a sales increase indicating annual sales of $9.4 billion.
Specialty jewelry sales in October jumped by 14.8% on the same month last year to 2.512 billion.
In the first 10 months of this year, sales at specialty jewelers rose by 9.4% to $24.45 billion.
That compares with general retail sales which kicked off the Christmas shopping season which declined by 4.3% from a year earlier in November to $17.5 billion.
Online sales tracking company comScore reported that sales between November 1 and 9 jumped 9% to $31.5 billion.
And Cyber Monday sales on December 2 rose 10% on the year to $1.4 billion.
