WFDB Sends Guidance Text For Sale of Diamonds
WFDB Sends Guidance Text For Sale of Diamonds
The latest clarification follows recent reports of synthetic diamonds being mixed in with small parcels of melee stones
The World Federation of Diamond Bourses has written to the presidents of its 28 affiliated bourses, including the Israel Diamond Exchange, regarding text to be used by exchange members to ensure clarity regarding dealing in natural or synthetic diamonds.
The WFDB provides two texts, one for invoices and the other for memos, which have to be on every invoice or memo.
For invoices, the text should state: “The diamonds herein invoiced are natural diamonds and not synthetic unless otherwise stated in writing. This statement is based on personal knowledge and/or written assurances provided to us by the suppliers of the diamonds and does not exclude any required disclosure regarding treated diamonds.”
For memos, the text must state: “The diamonds herein on memo are natural diamonds and not synthetic unless otherwise stated in writing. This statement is based on personal knowledge and/or written assurances provided to us by the suppliers of the diamonds and does not exclude any required disclosure regarding treated diamonds.”
