Successful Israel Diamond Week at DDC Ends
Based on the success of Israel Diamond Week at the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC), DDC President Reuven Kaufman and Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Shmuel Schnitzer, agreed to convene a follow-up Diamond Week at the IDE trading hall in the spring of 2014.
Kaufman reported that DDC members were very pleased with Israel Diamond Week and expressed support for continuing their business relationships with their IDE colleagues in Ramat Gan.
IDE President Schnitzer thanked Kaufman and his bourse for their organizational skills and hospitality in making the week of buying, selling and networking a success. In addition to the extremely active trade of buying and selling by close to 200 exhibitors, and attended by over 1,000 diamantaires, the schedule also included a number of celebratory events.
Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, was the featured speaker at the Israel Diamond Week Dinner at which IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer was made an Honorary Member of the Diamond Dealers Club. During his acceptance comments, Schnitzer expressed his appreciation for the honorary membership and for the on-going cooperation between the IDE and DDC.
Honorary membership was also given to former IDE President Yair Sahar and journalist and industry analyst Chaim Even-Zohar. Moti Fluk and Ami Parter, key Israeli organizers of Israel Diamond Week, were recognized for their work on behalf of the Israel Diamond Week.
DDC President Kaufman announced that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sent a ‘Proclamation” designating November 11-14 in the City of New York as “Israel Diamond Exchange and Diamond Dealers Club Week.”
In his concluding remarks Kaufman gave special thanks to all of the sponsors of Israel Diamond Week and also expressed the collective gratitude by attendees to the New York City Police Department for their high-level security arrangements for all of the events.
