US Polished Diamond Imports Jump 22 percent in July
American polished diamond imports show significant rise so far this year, too.
American polished diamond imports in July posted a rise of 22 percent on the year to $2.13 billion.
Meanwhile, in volume terms, there was a rise of 6.6 percent to 1.07 million carats, according to Rapaport News.
In January-July period, polished imports were up 12.3 percent to $13.72 billion.
In the polished diamond exports category, there was an 18.2-percent surge to $1.45 billion, while in January-June polished exports jumped 13.2 percent to $11.57 billion.
As for rough diamonds, imports soared 83 percent to $86 million, while rough exports dropped 19 percent to just $17 million.
For the first seven months of this year, rough imports slipped 1.3 percent to $298 million while exports fell 23.4 percent to $154 million.
