Thousands of members of the exchange, buyers and guests celebrated last night in the plaza under the Diamond Tower with a 'Beer and Music' event, as part of the second US & International Diamond Week. The event was attended by Minister of Tourism - Dr. Uzi Landau, Mayor of Ramat Gan, Zvi Bar, and senior Israeli and global diamond industry members and was the highlight of the Buyers Week.
The plaza under the Diamond Tower was fitted out in festive attire and welcomed all the guests with a large buffet and bars providing beer of many different types. There was a huge stage and behind it an enormous video wall appeared later in the evening with members of The Diamonds playing. The atmosphere was tremendous with smiles seen among the crowd with people relaxed, perhaps because of the beer or following a large deal closed.
The festive event was compered by Israel Diamond Exchange General Manager Moti Besser, and a member o
f the steering committee of the Buyers Week, Ami Prater, who invited IDE President Yair Sahar to speak: "I want to thank you all for coming to celebrate with us here today. I hope you have created new relationships this week, as well as renewing old ties, and that you did business. As with any show, I am convinced that there are those who did big business and those who did not sell even one stone, but these will enjoy the fruits of this week. If not today, then later on, because we provided a means here for the Israeli and global diamond industry to do business.
"This evening I would especially like to thank my friend, President of the DDC, Reuben Kaufman, members of the Steering Committee, General Manager Moti Besser and all the wonderful staff who worked on organizing the Buyers Week, as well as IDI Chairman Moti Ganz for his support and friendship all along."
Tourism Minister Dr. Uzi Landau, Ramat Gan Mayor Zvi Bar and President of DDC Reuben Kaufman, welcomed the guests and at the end of the speeches members of The Diamonds band, musicians and singers who are all members of the Israeli diamond industry, established especially for the Buyers Week showed that months of rehearsals paid off with a professional, high quality and exciting performance which would do justice to any contemporary Israeli band. And the crowd took to the band, dancing and singing along, and most of all seemed to enjoy being part of the family of the Israel Diamond Exchange.
We can wholeheartedly say that the event was a great success thanks to the great work of the steering committee, and a greatevening was had by all, with beer, food and shirts distributed at the event all financed by sponsors.
