Registration Period Ends For Rio Tinto Tender at IDE
Due to the strong interest and large number of firms registering, Rio Tinto said that registration has ended for its rough diamond tender of goods from the Diavik mine that is slated to take place at the upcoming Buyers’ Week.
Mining giant Rio Tinto announced today (Thursday) that registration has ended for its rough diamond tender of goods from the Diavik mine in Canada that is slated to take place at the Israel Diamond Exchange at the end of this month.
The tender will take place as part of the August 26-29 US & International Diamond Week at the IDE. The tender will feature diamonds from Diavik of all sizes and with a value of tens of millions of dollars, with the emphasis on larger stones.
IDE President Yair Sahar, who has worked intensively in recent months in order to bring Rio Tinto diamond tenders to Israel, said: “The holding of the tender follows Rio Tinto’s recent announcement that it will retain its diamond business after carrying out a review of its core business. We very much hope that this is the first step in a range of future initiatives between Rio Tinto and the IDE.”
Sahar stressed that the Rio Tinto tender rough goods is just one of a range of tenders that will take place during the US & International Diamond Week at the end of this month.
Rio Tinto says it thanks all the firms that registered for the tender and wishes them all luck.
