Christie’s Posts Sales of $13.4 Million at London Auction
Auction house Christie’s raised $13,424,431 at its sale of Important Jewels in London.
The sale was 77 percent sold by lot and 90 percent by value.
The highest-selling jewelry piece was a three-row natural pearl necklace which was sold for $1,636,909.
Following that, a diamond and natural pearl brooch was bought for $675,000 – way beyond its pre-sale estimate of $39,000-$54,000.
Head of the London Jewellery Department, Keith Penton, said, “These results illustrate the continued strength in the market for natural pearls. This London sale concludes an extremely successful spring season for jewels at Christie’s.”
