In addition to preparing the shelters together with the bourse’s security staff and management, the exchange also carried out a dummy exercise simulating a missile falling near the exchange buildings opposite Bank Igud.
The IDE’s security staff, under the leadership of the Security Director Yisrael Vantzovsky took part on May 27 in national civil defense exercise for the home guard. During the exercise, several security scenarios were played out, including a rocket falling on the diamond exchange complex. IDE President Yair Sahar and General Manager Moti Besser monitored developments from an underground control room.
IDE President Yair Sahar said: "The readiness of members of the exchange and workers as well as all the tenants to manage with possible emergency situations is very important - and even more so in light of recent events on the northern border. The exercise today was aimed at ensuring that in an emergency situation and when a real siren goes off we will be ready, know what to do and know how to cooperate with the bourse's security personnel in the best possible way."
“The diamond exchange took part in the annual home front security exercise, including getting people into the security shelters,” Vantzovsky explained. “We set ourselves two main targets: To enable the members to get to know where the shelters and public secure areas are in the bourse and to do a drill to get people into them when the siren goes off.
“Secondly, to check the security systems and management response during an emergency. Despite the fact that large office and bank workers largely took part, the response from the rest of the bourse members and tenants was relatively low level,” he added.
The bourse’s standing regulations during an emergency were carried out, including detailed instructions to the exchange’s security staff and volunteers, including bourse members who are qualified paramedics.
Vantzovsky stressed that in addition to preparing the shelters together with security staff and bourse management, there was also a simulated fall of a rocket in the bourse complex opposite the Bank Igud offices. Bourse security workers and forces in the field simulated the evacuation of people from the area, its closure and connecting up with rescue workers and fire department officers.
Vantzovsky thanked the chairman of the bourse’s Security Committee, Shalom Papir, who was unable to take part since he was abroad, for participating in the preparations for the exercise.
