Philippines Ambassador to Israel Visits Israel Diamond Exchange

During his visit, the ambassador met with IDE President Yair Sahar and the leadership of the bourse, as well as paying a visit to the Trading Hall and was briefed on the importance of the diamond sector to Israel's economy.
The Philippines' Ambassador to Israel, Generoso D.G. Calonge, visited the Israel Diamond Exchange on May 13, where he met with IDE President Yair Sahar, the leadership of the bourse, and Diamond Controller Shmuel Mordechai.
 
Sahar thanked the ambassador for visiting the exchange and explained that since becoming president he has initiated visits by many ambassadors to boost diamond trading with their states. He briefed the ambassador on the scale of Israel's polished diamond exports and the importance to Israel of the South East Asian market.

IDE General Manager Moti Besser showed a short film about the importance of the diamond sector to Israel's economy and the way the sector has developed in the country since 1948 as well as statistics relating to rough imports and net polished exports over the years.
 
He also explained the unique role of the buildings that comprise the bourse that give a wide range of services to diamantaires under one roof, as well as the exchange's involvement with the wider community and contributions to it.
At the end of the meeting, Yair Sahar presented the ambassador with a picture of Jerusalem and gave him a tour of the Trading Hall along with other members of the bourse's leadership.
