In line with tradition, the IDE held a festive get-together which was attended by scores of bourse members. In particular, there was great excitement at the participation in the ceremony of Israel’s Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar.
Scores of bourse members took part in a festive occasion at the exchange on Monday (May 12) ahead of the Shvuot holiday at the Cullinan restaurant with the participation of guest of honor, Israel’s Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, the rabbi of Ramat Gan, Ariel Ya’akov, the head of the Institute for the Teaching of Rabbis, Rabbi Yosef Eliahu, and Deputy Mayor of Ramat Gan, Avihu Ben-Moshe.
The Chairman of the Culture Committee, Ya’akov Haron Shelley, led the event and blessed the participants and said that this year the bourse has decided to write a Torah scroll in the name of the rabbis. He thanked all those who have contributed and invited members to join in.
IDE President Yair Sahar congratulated all theparticipants and the rabbis, saying: “Your honor Rabbi Amar. We do not take it for granted that you have accompanied us in such a short period three times. You are like one of our members for us and always welcome here. On behalf of all the bourse members and myself, we welcome you here. This is an exciting day for us because Rabbis Ariel Ya’akov and Yosef Eliahu are with us like family. Thanks you all for that.”

Yair Sahar highlighted the work of the Culture Committee and praised the writing of the Torah scroll. “This is an opportunity to say thank you to the committee chairman Ya’akov Haron Shelley. There is no othersuch body in Israel that has such an amazing committee doing great work in the cultural sphere.”
“The writing of the Torah is really appropriate at thei time before Shavuot, he added, as he told the story of the festival. I hope we will see all the rabbis when we bring in the finished Torah scroll. Happy festival to everyone.”
Rabbi Amar then gave his blessings to the members gather in the bourse for the ceremony and told a story about the importance of the Shavuot holiday and what it signifies. He also praised the leadership and management of the diamond exchange.
Rabbi Ariel Ya’akov also spoke about the Shavuot holiday and praised the diamond exchange for its cultural activities and that members found time to take part in such activities.
Rabbi Yosef Eliahu spoke about the importance of the people of Israel beign one and unified and that the exchange has started writing a Torah scroll.
Deputy Mayor of Ramat Gan, Avihu Ben-Moshe, spoke about the race for the position of Chief Rabbi of Israe and said that Rabbi Ariel Ya’akov was among the frontrunners. He said that although Ramat Gan would lose out, the people of Israel would certainly gain from Rabbi Ya’akov being appointed. He also spoke about the bourse’s help for the needy. “As the scroll of Ruth teaches us – always help those in need. This is a place of charity and grace. Every request from Ramat gan to the bourse for help is fulfilled, and President Yair Sahar is always the first to answer and give.”
