Renard mine road work starts sooner than expected due to improved weather, says Stornoway

Work on the Renard mine road has commenced earlier than expected due to improved weather and progress already stands at 12 percent of the total project, says Stornoway Diamond Corp.
The mine road aims to give year-round vehicle access to the Renard project, with the first all-season vehicle access to Renard slated for the fourth quarter of this year, as previously expected.

The all-season road linking Renard to the Québec highway network is being constructed in four stages – with a total length of 240 km. There has been good progress on the first two sections, and Stornoway will complete the remaining 97 km under an agreement with the Quebec government.

The first vehicle access to Renard was on February 15 via a winter road which opened early and has been used to transport construction equipment and fuel to the mine site. That has enabled the building of the all-season Renard mine road to start considerably ahead of schedule.
