Lucapa recommencing drilling at Lulo deposit in Angola
pastingLucapa Diamond Company, which works the Lulo diamond area in Angola’s Lunda Norte Province, has restarted drilling at a kimberlite target.
Lucapa plans to carry out reverse circulation drilling for sampling using its dense media separation (DMS) plant after the diamond drilling.
Meanwhile, Lucapa has held positive talks with its joint venture partner, Endiama, Angola's state-owned diamond company which owns a share in all diamond operations in the country, which the firm hopes will lead to an additional two years on its alluvial license at Lulo.
The company will also try to extend its kimberlite license at Lulo, which is due to end in June, reports Proactive Investors.
Lucapa is awaiting the arrival of a 50-tonne per hour DMS plant and sorting facility that will give it the ability to beef-up its sampling and recovery work.
The Lulo operation is located approximately 750 km from Luanda, the capital of Angola, and around 150 km from the huge Catoca diamond mine.
Four years of exploration at Lulo have unearthed some exceptional alluvial diamonds weighing up to 131.4 carats which independent valuers have assessed as being worth $3.5 million.
The Lulo exploration program includes the drill testing and work at in excess of 60 high-priority kimberlite targets.
