Israel Diamond Exchange to hold diamond sales week for global industry

The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) will hold a rough and polished diamond sales event called the International Diamond Week in Israel for accredited diamond dealers at the bourse in the third week of March.
The IDE initiative follows the success of the Israel Diamond Week in New York in December.

"For the event in March, the IDE initially will be inviting members of the New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) and other U.S. diamond industry and trade organizations," said IDE President, Yair Sahar. "These include members of the diamond bourses in Miami and Los Angeles and of the Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America.
"
He said the IDE would also welcome diamond dealers who are members of other bourses affiliated to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), as well as members of other accredited diamond organizations worldwide.

"Ramat Gan is a leading, global diamond trading center, which offers lots of opportunities for profitable diamond business ventures," he said. "The event in March is the first of several customized diamond buying opportunities IDE will be organizing in 2013 with the specific aim of lowering the threshold and attracting diamond buyers to Israel," he said.
The event will take place a week before Passover, allowing Jewish traders to combine their participation with a personal visit to Israel. The Israel Diamond Institute has pledged its support to subsidize the room rates at the designated venue hotel.

In addition, starting in early March, three companies will stage diamond tenders at the exchange. Russian diamond mining giant Alrosa will hold a rough diamond tender for stones of 10.8 carats and larger.

Meanwhile, I. Hennig & Co. Ltd., the largest De Beers broker, and Fusion Alternatives Tenders, a leading specialist in operating international diamond tenders, are expected to hold a rough diamond tender, as will Ediamonds, a firm that tenders rough diamonds produced in Africa and Australia.

Furthermore, the Israeli-French auction house, Tzoffey's 1818, will stage an exclusive auction for special loose diamonds and outstanding diamond jewelry pieces. In addition, international industry commentators and analysts will be giving presentations on issues of interest to members of the diamond industry.

"The various events that will be organized before, during and after the International Diamond Week in Israel in March target a range of audiences that have a lot in common. This multi-facetted platform will be a great opportunity for foreign and Israel diamantaires to network and do business," Sahar concluded.
