IDE Awards Honorary President Title to Yair Sahar

Sahar was elected as the IDE's eighth president and served from July 2011 to October 2013. Before being elected as prsident, Sahar had served in a range of positions.

The 66th General Assembly of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) bestowed on Yair Sahar, a former IDE President who served a two-year term between 2011 and 2013, the title of Honorary President.

During a ceremony that took place during the IDE's Annual General Meeting on December 15, preceding the general elections that were held on the following day, outgoing President Shmuel Schnitzer awarded Yair Sahar the title in honor of Sahar's contributions to the Exchange's development and well-being.

"It is our pleasure to bestow upon you the title of Honorary President, and for you to join Avi Paz and myself as the third former IDE president in receiving this honor. I am confident that with a new president taking up the reigns of our exchange, we will be available to offer him our counsel and advice. I congratulate you, Yair, on behalf of the board and the membership and may you go from strength to strength," Schnitzer said.

Yoram Dvash, the newly elected IDE President, said he not only fully supported the decision of the outgoing president and board to honor Yair Sahar but also said it was crucial that past leaders of the Exchange would continue to contribute to the well-being and growth of the Israeli diamond industry and trade.

"I congratulate Yair Sahar on becoming the third past president to be awarded the prestigious title of Honorary President.

"In these challenging times for our industry, we need the advice and insights of the captains who have run our ship in the past and have negotiated the rough seas that we continue to experience today," Dvash stated.
