At a special ceremony on Thursday, the IDE’s Technology Wing in the Trading Hall received one of the most accurate measuring devices in the world that can measure to 1/10,000th of a carat.
Lior Gemological Services today (Thursday) presented to the Israel Diamond Exchange’s Technology Wing in the Trading Hall one of the most accurate measuring devices in the world that can measure to 1/10,000th of a carat. The machine was made in Switzerland by Mettler Toledo and is estimated to cost around 15,000 shekels.

The special ceremony where the weighing machine was officially handed over was attended by IDE President Yair Sahar, Chairman of the Industry Committee Eli Shiri, the Chairman of the Diamond Association and member of the bourse management Yossi Ben Zion, Chairman of the Trading Hall Committee Yitzhak Cohen, the IDE’s General Manager Moti Besser, representatives from Mettler Toledo led by Urs Wolfensberger, and the owners of Lior Gemological Services, and the representative of Mettler Toledo in Israel, Lior Strang.

Strang pointed out that “the high level of accuracy of the machine goes to four decimal places after the tenth point, and this guarantees the highest quality and reliability. We are proud and happy to donate this weighing machine to the bourse.”
Meanwhile, Yair Sahar thanked the company’s representatives for the machines, saying: “We, at the IDE, are committed to the most stringent standards of the diamond sector, and even more so when we are talking about diamond weighing machines. Weight is one of the four central characteristics that determine the cost of the diamond. I am convinced that members of the bourse will gain the maximum benefit from this new weighing machine. Many thanks for the donation.”
